Not bad. Just horny.
“Where are you going?”
She watched him in the mirror, idly brushing her hair as her eyes trained themselves on his every move. Without batting an eyelash he flippantly replied.
“I'm going to hang with Fred. You know, boy's night out”
She hummed in response, watching him dirty her freshly laundered towels on his long toned legs. He had always been so fine, caught her that first day with that winsome smile, full of mischief, full of deceit. He discarded the towel on the floor beside their bed, moved to her right to open the drawer in the dresser she sat adjacent to. He pulled out a clean pair of boxers, white band, blue base with red polka dots, she had always hated this pair, but he called them his lucky drawers, so she indulged him.
As always.
She watched him pull them over his knees, covering the dark chocolate skin of his hips, his smooth hard body, she hadn't felt that power within her in ages, she wondered if he even missed their love making, or if he even called it love making. Probably referred to it to Fred as “just fucking my bitch”. He had already pulled up his trousers and was now buttoning his crisp linen shirt.
“Dressing pretty well for a night out with Fred”
She murmured, continuing her follicle ministrations.
“Oh you know how we do baby, gotta show out”
He smiled wide, but it wasn't a smile for her, it was a smile to appease her, to fool her, she said nothing and continued to watch the love of her life get ready to leave her another night. He tucked his shirt in, and now stood behind her, brushing his hair back, the thick dark molasses on his head, so soft to touch, she remembered when she used to run her hands through it when he put his head on her stomach, her stomach that then housed their creation, their miracle of life, their answer to all. Who he was also leaving tonight.
He put the comb down next to her own brush, and took her hand, turned her around and placed it on his lips.
“I'll see you later sweetie pie, don't stay up too late, tuck the little one in for me. Daddy will be home soon enough”
Another kiss was placed on her forehead and with that he was gone. She watched his happy gait, and listened to his joyful whistling.
“Just another night with the boys”
He came home a few hours later, it was well into the middle of the night. He had snuck in the room so as not to disturb her, but she hadn't been able to sleep at all, thoughts of him and her misery had invaded all senses and fueled a terrible case of insomnia. And so she watched him in the dark, made no motion to alert him to her conscious state, instead observed. He tip toed to the bathroom and flicked the light on, closing the door but not completely, a small line of light shone on the bed and she could see his reflection in the bathroom mirror through the crack of the door, he was taking his clothes off.
He unbuttoned his shirt, now wrinkled and stained, he slung of his belt, he unzipped his trousers and let them fall to his feet.
His underwear was on backwards.
She closed her eyes and turned her body in the opposite direction, tears rolled down her cheeks as he crawled into bed next to her, cradling his body to her own, but his warmth had never felt colder.
“Just another night with the boys”
