The idea that our world bathes readily in pools of intolerance still flabbergasts me. It's a way of life to be sure, but I remain optimistic, and when that optimism is proven futile, the disappoint remains fresh. How on earth could an islamic center near ground zero be coined as “wrong”? Isn't that the blatantly ignorant intolerance that got us into this so-called "Holy War" in the first place? Why are we so against peace? Against any sort of mandated equality?
Why are we so against the idea of "Common Humanity"?
I suppose when we finally come face to face with a common enemy to humanity we will understand our true purpose on this planet. I see nothing wrong with an Islamic center anywhere on this earth. And until you get over your abhorrence of the idea, the extremists will continue to attack and continue to hate, because you don't give them a reason not to.
Maybe I'm being dramatic, but this issue sheds light on a greater problem than just The Taliban vs. America, it sheds light on American ignorance and hypocrisy, a problem that affects and molests all cultures of this world. When I think about the pain that this country has caused, the pain this country still causes today, I am filled with this uncomfortable amount of disdain.
The world now values the dollar over a human life.
I don't blame this all on America, but as one of the super powers it's just as equally at fault. It's a common mental stigma, intolerance, ignorance, greed, over indulgence.
Anger. Hatred. Capitalized pain.
Remember the ordeal the Japanese went through during WWII? Labor camps, where they were persecuted and treated like animals because of blind prejudice in modern day America.
And this is the American dream.
For every life luxury, there is a cost that has to be paid in integrity.
You can't have it all.
Either your soul, or that 3D television.
Which is more important to you?
